Hold yourself accountable

Let's begin...

Timetables were never my thing. I hated timetables and I still do. My main reason for hating them is that they make me feel restricted and I'm really against the feeling.

Before I begin my build-up, please note that I'm no master when it comes to productivity. One could even say I'm bad at it.

There was this time in school that I couldn't get anything done. I always ended up procrastinating or not doing what I want to. I felt really bad. I knew I should be doing some absolutely necessary stuff; like reading my course materials or solving problems to improve my understanding. Instead, I mostly ended up not doing anything at all. It was a dark period of my life.

I decided that the best way out was to talk to someone about the situation. Maybe the person would give me an idea or a plan; just a way out. Because I knew very well that if things didn't get better, my results were going to show it.

The point

When I talked to her (my friend), she told me something about timetables that helped a lot. I still don't explicitly use them but I get the point now.

She told me that it's not about restricting yourself but rather about accountability. According to her use of timetables, they are there to check her; to keep her on track.

When you hold yourself accountable at the end of each day, it helps you stay more organised.

Each day, have set goals. This implies that, in a way, you've planned for the day. At the end of the day, crosscheck the things on your task list. Compare them with the things you were able to do.

Hold yourself accountable.

Conclusion

Regardless of all this, it's still crucial to accept that, it's not every day that you'd be able to finish everything on the task list. Things would come up.

The whole point is that, accountability is a great asset. Making sure you evaluate yourself regularly ensures that you stay on track.

Again, I'm no master in productivity. But I hope this small text helps you in any way possible.
